Science Textbook Adoption Process

Local Process

October Work Session: Textbook Committee presented to Board at monthly work session.

October Board Meeting: Textbook Committee voted upon by Board at monthly meeting.

November 5th, 2024: Textbook Committee Orientation and Oath.

December 2024: Textbook samples requested from the State.

December-February: Committee members will share information with fellow teachers at local schools; teacher and parent previews will be made public, and input will be gathered. The public input will be gathered via an online survey posted on the Collierville Schools’ page, as well as individual school’s websites.

January 2025: Textbook Caravan - presentations from textbook vendors to committee members.

Early March (TEAMS): Reconvening of committee to discuss findings.

Mid-March: Textbook Committee online voting.

April 2025: Selections presented to the Board at monthly work session.

April 2025: Selections approved by the Board and then reported to the state.

Textbook Committee was formed through Principal and Supervisory Recommendation.

Each school has grade-band representation.

Each grade-band has a parent representative.

 

School Viewing Dates

All textbooks for viewing will be located at the front of the school unless otherwise noted.

Bailey Station Elementary – Feb. 24 – Feb. 28
Collierville Elementary – Mar. 3 – Mar. 7
Collierville Middle – Feb. 24 – Feb. 28
Collierville High – Mar. 3 – Mar. 7*
Crosswind Elementary – Mar. 3 – Mar. 7
Schilling Farms Elementary – Feb. 24 – 28
Sycamore Elementary – Feb. 24 – Feb. 28
Tara Oaks Elementary – Mar. 10 – 14
West Collierville Middle – Mar. 3 – Mar. 7**

* CHS requests for parents to park in the bus loop and check in through the Counseling Office to preview textbooks.
** WCMS will have an extended viewing option available on Mar. 6 from 4-6 PM.
